Goodnight friends! More broadly overcast throughout most of the day, 23°c and a little more humid and still than would be comfortable. Hawthorn berries starting to take on colour and the first small green blackberries appearing. Hazard-striped cinnabar moth caterpillars are draped all over the budding crowned heads of ragworts. Patches of miniscule, dainty yellow hop trefoils and white chickweed grow among moss gardens. Tracks of telltale puckered scars on sycamore-maple foliage are erupting into the narrow scarlet blisters of nail galls. On the underside of a leaf a single perfect golden egg, gleaming and reflective, a little smaller than a rice grain.

Poor sleep due to the clammy, damp-feeling overnight weather, and a slow, sore start. Had a relaxed hangout with a friend, we made lunch together, talked over the last few weeks of whirlwind events in our dating lives, and had slices of an amazing pecan pie they made for dessert. Looks like an illness in the group has postponed tomorrow’s TTRPG group to next weekend, so I get more time to write ahead and put my notes in order.

May we find warmth and community in our lives today!
