Goodnight friends! Dazzlingly bright for much of the day, shadows throbbing slowly from inky black to pale as scattered snow white clouds slid across the sky and the dark passages of birds overhead were briefly painted on the silvery fishscale undulating grass. 25°c, hot and dry enough for the air feel like oven pressure on my face when I stepped out of deep shade. Golden foam of lady’s beadstraw, crowned buds of ragwort beginning to open, mophead hydrangeas starting to take on colour. In the afternoon clouds began to thicken, the heat grew heavy and stultifying, pressure gathering over the evening until a breath of light midnight drizzle released the tension.
Sleep trending poor again, so a slow and hazy waking, but ended up feeling fairly good despite that. Took a long slow walk after lunch and did my stretching on the warm grass, my first pass through my full routine since before we went to the coast. Some rest interspersed with writing for my TTRPG group in the afternoon.
May we find a sense of progress and purpose in our lives today!
Image ID: Photo of bright sunlight falling across refexed stonecrop in flower, umbel-like tight packed clusters of dazzlingly bright lemon yellow hexafoil and septafoil flowers, so bright detail is burned out in sheer colour, on uncannily tall ruddy pink stems studded with fleshy spine-like leaves, some reaching 20 cm or more high above the spreading mat of 1-to-2 cm tall pointed, succulent leaves.
Photo of a deep crimson ornamental rose in full flower, its silken petals forming a tight fist-sized hypnotic red whorl.
