Goodnight friends! A deep drop in temperature and a deeply hectic day of weather. It was 4°c – down from around 11°c yesterday – when I woke up, thin pale gold rays streaming in around the curtains. Within an hour, and in the space of a few minutes, the light faded to a dull sludgy grey and a hiss of drizzle rapidly become a pebbly rattle of hail, hammering down at a steep slant. Then, less than an hour later the pattern repeated itself, dazzling chisel-edged light carving deep shadows luminous colours swiftly turning to driving sleet, and then back again.

Pain shivering its way through my limbs and core, crackling and twisting. I slept poorly and barely got out of bed until mid-afternoon, waiting for painkillers to sand down the rougher edges as much as they could. Fortunately my peak of stamina coincided with a patch of clear skies, so I managed a very brief walk in the blistering, dazzling air. After a rest my girlfriend ferried me over to her place for dinner.

May we find mutual support and generosity in our lives today!
