Goodnight friends! More steadfastly grey and clouded over sky, layered, blurred wet-on-wet streaks of dilute grey with frequent spates of very light, loose cool drizzle. Around 17°c but feeling a damp, heavy chill and smelling the dense, fungal scent of damp leaves. Haws on the bushes deep crimson like banked and surly coals. Bramble leaves purple-edged, but a brief resurgent swell of lush green garlic-mustard and green alkanet beneath the hedgerows.
A big post-exercise rest day, feeling very heavy and sluggish and dull, with a tidal pulse of bodily pain rushing through me, but again missing – or rather, not missing the lack of – the deep, concussed-feeling exhaustion that comes from intense randori. Staying still as much as I can without feeling myself seize up, feeling provisionally relatively happy and lucky about my choices, hoping that tomorrow isn’t when a real crash comes.
May we find warmth and companionship in our lives today!
