Goodnight friends! Hopefully the last peak day of heat for now, 35°c again and with less cloud cover. Sunlight blanching the sky white-gold and immense, a slow, relentless force pressing down on me every brief moment I spent outdoors. Sauna-like heat escalating hour by hour of the long day and bleeding off slow, still 20°c late into the night, crescent moon low and bright and yellow. Whirl and bustle of bees as long as a finger joint around graveside lavender, buzzing clockwork whirr of grasshoppers, half-stunned looking pigeons lurch into the air with a brief whooping flurry of wingbeats when they startle at my approach.
A slow and bleary start, kept awake long hours by slowly diffusing bodily aches, stuffy warmth and the thin shrieks of vulpine squabbling. Lethargy clung to me throughout the day, and I still feel like I’m very much in the midst of recovering, not doing much more than necessary for slow hours, but less pain and fatigue overall. My phone camera overheated a few minutes into a brief walk.
