Goodnight friends! A startling and welcome change in the atmosphere, clouds high and pale, cool air dry and crisp and inviting. I could feel the faint heat when bands of light cast up from the rippling water streaked across my face. Corrugated alder leaves curl and shrink on their branches into hunched firey-orange cocoons. From time to time a breeze washes over the treetops and a drift of leaves falls all at once, twirling and looping like a flight of startled birds. Sleek squirrels flow liquidly between canopies.

Definitely a boost in energy and a slackening of the aching weight in my joints, my mood and concentration rising to match. Suspecting this is just a temporary boost from clear skies I haven’t gone overboard with doing extra stuff, just tried to organise and square my environment up a bit to make things more managable.

May we find a renewed sense of startled wonder today at the everyday moments of beauty all.around us!
