Goodnight friends! Cold, and with tentative icy fingers of wind sliding under collars, but far clearer and drier. Pallid, soft blue sky strewn with snakeskin ghosts of gauzy white cloud.
My shoulder, which I strained at judo, felt worse in the morning and the joint mobility was poor. I talked to the 111 medical information service, and they sent me along to hospital. I spent a bunch of the day there getting it checked out just in case I’d fractured something, but fortunately the diagnosis is just a nasty little sprain of some kind. Curiously, aside from the struggles of getting there and moving around the wards, it ended up being a somewhat restful day – I sat still in an N95 mask in a fairly comfortable chair for several hours, I treated myself like there was something I needed to recover from. With ice and extra painkillers and a sensibly paced slow reopening of the limb I feel like I shouldn’t be put of action for too long.
May we be alert to and find delight in unexpected moments of commonplace wonder in our lives today!
