Goodnight friends! Clouds flickering and swirling by overhead, occasionally overcast but only very briefly, generally bright and clear and cold. Around 4°c, the windchill hitting like the clinging, searing sensation of grasping frigid metal. Harsh, rich smell of woodsmoke and bitter alcohol tang of cold decay. Tough little soil-speckled green tendrils of chickweed and crane’s-bills still sprouting on sheltered slopes that catch a little sun.

Confidence slowly growing again, managed another short walk without a heavy backlash. I think my aim for the next few days isn’t to keep building on these gains, but to maintain or even let them ebb a little during the holiday period social exertion, let things even out and feel reliable before I push further. A small, low key dinner with my girlfriend this evening, before a somewhat busier and more social get together at her place tomorrow.

May we find, and share, gentleness and compassion today!
