Good evening friends! Today I found one of those secret little moments of unlooked-for everyday wonder. The ingredients were: a day with few other people about and cool, flat even light after recent rain, a large puddle closely overhung by bare trees, waterproof shoes, and a large bird flying overhead. As I walked through shallow water trying not to splash overmuch I found myself looking down into the water – into a wavering mirror of the trees above. Suddenly the branches were rippling under my weight, below me was vast grey air. A heron flew by, starkly prehistoric far beneath my feet. As I looked quickly up to catch its passage I was suspended like something metal between two magnets, up and down at once, swinging in pleasant vertigo.

For the rest of the day I’ve felt like a small light far off inside me has been flicked on, a different sensation uncovered.

May we find grace and guidance today!
