Goodnight friends! Already the meadows are clear and cropped and bristly blonde, patrolled by a dusty black brigade of crows, air thick with the heavy-lidded dry sweet smell of hay. Canal shivers with the jostling insect life among marbled mats of waterweeds, in the hedgerows coiling telephone cable vines grapple their way up grass stems.
A hectic feeling of preparation still, feeling energised by continuing warm weather and nervous excitement. Trying to give myself the time and space I need for recovery after exercising yesterday while wanting to draw, to figure out packing, to plan out activities.
May we recognise and celebrate the people in our lives who have helped and supported us, and find ways to pay those gifts forward today!
