Goodnight friends! The slow hackle-raising drumroll of the last few days has finally reached a peak, rain breaking early in the afternoon and continuing in stammering starts ever since. No release from oily tension in the air quite yet though, a tight breathless feeling still pervades, perhaps even worse for now despite the lower temperature. A sour fetid scent from the waterways as detritus left gummy and dry on the beds of trickling streams is flushed out. Pavements strewn with the gorgeously striped enamel gleam of brown-lipped snails, bright white streaks thankfully making them easy to dodge.
Joints giving their typical grinding wet weather complaints, and energy flagging fast from short optimistic bursts of activity. The downpour gave me more-or-less a rest day, though I’d hoped that yesterday’s exercise hadn’t been to strenuous for me to get up and about a bit.
May we find and offer warmth, respectful fellowship and kindness today!
