Goodnight friends! Far less gusty in the daylight, though I can hear a steampipe hiss of wind in the darkness now, but the signs of a recent buffetting abound. Downed and shattered branches, leaves piled like flotsam against gravestones, bins and votives and human ephemeral scattered everywhere. The sky mostly a stubbornly pale and lifeless grey with a few vague glimpses of powdery blue, spidered over by bent and looming trees.

Another day with household tasks as my main mission, fumblingly putting up some thick curtains to help soften winter draughts. Very tiring, but at least a sense of accomplishment to hold on to as the rest of my ambitions slipped away into a mild fugue of exhaustion. Hopefully it will pay off for the rest of the season too, making it easier to move from room to room in the evening without shivering.

May we find and celebrate moments of unexpected everyday beauty in our lives today!
