Goodnight friends! Another day of bright and blistering cold, around 4°c again. Harsh whipcord wind shredding clouds away to nothing and scouring our cheeks raw and ruddy, fingers aching like they’d taken a tap from a hammer. Wild apple trees all surrounded in dense golden rings of tiny, sour yellow fruits decaying slowly to red and umber. Scattered gorse flowers blaze like candleflames, crows shine in refracted shades of glossy black like chips of obsidian.

A longish but pleasantly slow day, the type of day that half-collapses into one long slow dinner with friends. Over at my girlfriend’s place, half-dozing through a boardgame with her dog occasionally wriggling onto my lap.

May we find warmth and companionship in our lives today!
