Goodnight friends! A wan, greyish start with a sharp feeling to the air. Fortunately hour by hour the sky gradually cleared, and mid-afternoon had a gentle summery feeling. Constant zip and hum of insects, yellow central rings of forget-me-nots and pink-tipped hawthorn stamens disappearing flower by flower as the fumbling dance of pollination continues.

Still recovering a little from judo, a mild dragging lethargy that I mostly felt fairly content to listen to. I’ve been able to draw a bit more and more productively recently by pacing more carefully, which is making periods of semi-enforced stillness easier to reconcile with.

May we find ways to nurture and reinforce the relationships we value today!

Image ID: Photo of intermingled branches of oak and ash hanging down in front of a dark hedge of lawson’s cypress, fresh leaves just beginning to unfold, the dangling catkins of the oak and lacy branching flowers of the ash both blazing incandescent green-gold, caught in a ray of afternoon light.

Photo of a small patch of garden pansies, their owlishly flat round flowers astonishingly, luridly bright yellow with wide purple rims and black centres.
