Goodnight friends! Grey and still but fortunately not that damp. Murky cold, just above freezing. Keening and yelping and scrambling of foxes outside in the deep night, maybe taking advantage of the dry weather to pick up autumn’s turf wars or love affairs.

Feeling very ropey today although the sore throat, at least for now, seems to be fading a little bit. Still a little early to take it as a definite positive sign, but I want to stay hopeful for a quick resolution. Otherwise, the symptoms are about what I usually expect from a cold or similar – all the usual stuff, but even more so. Each joint has its own private hot-coal sensation, I feel like I’m wearing a windbreaker filled with lead shot. Very tired. Fortunately my girlfriend and her dog were able to stop over to make sure I’ll be well squared away for supplies for a few days, and that my feet were warm.

May we find restful companionship and tenderness today!
