Goodnight friends! Sodden day of muted colours, a wet and penetrating cold. Sudden bright bursts of birdsong or the burning ornage crown of a cherry tree seemed exceptionally intense against the smothered feeling of almost constant rain and dulled colours. After dark popcorn bursts of early Guy Fawkes fireworks began to splutter a counterpoint to the continuing rattle of rain.
A rough start, woken by deep smouldering pain in my joints, an almost catastrophic sensation of despair in the pit of my stomach. Thankfully my girlfriend was staying over today, so I had access to a lot of physical and emotional support. A very low-key day still, but far, far less demoralising than in might have been.
