Goodnight friends! It’s still barely under 20°c at well past midnight, and 10 or more above that at midday. Dry but stifling heat, birds seeming muted by the sweltering hot-metal pressure of the sunlight. Only crickets whirring on and on and on like the tautly vibrating string of a fiddle stretched across a whole meadow. Thick sheaves of yellow-green slippery grasses devour footpaths, slapping against my shins and ankles.
Mosquitoes did an even better job on me than I first thought, bites could hardly have been more effective if they’d been calculate to annoy – one each on the very tip of an elbow and a heel, another pair on an ankle, a finger, the top of a foot just where footwear rubs, etcetera. Apart from that feeling a little sedated by the heat and that significant distraction I had a fair and pleasant, though unfortunately uncreative day.
May we find kindness and thoughtful human regard within and around us today!
