Goodnight friends! Ice and harsh cold persists, but much wetter and more penetrating as a heavy velvet fog settled in after overnight rain. Thickly frozen puddles snap like mousetraps underfoot. Spectral oar-winged shapes of herons jousting among the trees, their rusty shrieks made muffled and even more uncanny by the thick air. Fallen branches half-emerge from the reservoir, locked by the ice into alert, serpentine postures. Swathes of low lying moss ennobled by a mass coronation of silvery diadems.

A lot of pain and barely any sleep, a deadening inescapable ache seeping into my joints with the ice and wet. Ploughing on step by step, distracting myself however I can when I can.

May we find rest and healing today!
