Goodnight friends! For the first time in a while I could feel the daylight, light like a soft warm weight pressing against my cheek, midday sun cresting high above the church steeple in a bright blue field among slowly tumbling cottony clouds. The scattering of creamy primroses thickens and spreads across shadow-barred grass, now interspersed with flecks of bittercress and daisies, while startling blue squill and grape hyacinth froth up afresh in the shade.

Fragile and raw still, throat sandpapery and ragged. Stamina ebbs rapidly, thinking scattered and sluggish. All my energy budgeting almost feeling paranoid in its cautiousness. A day for carefully plodding along, getting through to tomorrow and another step forward.

May we rediscover delight in past fascinations and passions today!
