Good evening friends! Very warm and a little cloudy still, especially to start, but far brighter and less clammy than yesterday. Thrushes in full voice again, constant insect-harmony of drones and hums and buzzes. Tentacular uncoiling ferns and white campion, tall and stalky, on the disturbed edges of the woodlands, foxglove stems beginning to show puckered purple towers of bells.

While I’m a little bleary from lack of sleep, and a little sore too from exercise yesterday, I’m glad my body still decided to wake me reasonably early in the morning. I always find it a gruelling struggle to reset my schedule once I’ve started waking up around midday, and I rarely feel like I’ve properly been able to experience the day when I’m so offset from the sun.

May we find joy and comfort in the simple sensory experiences around us today, and allow them to ground us in the fullness of the present moment!
