Goodnight friends! A few hours of patchwork blue sky, but by midday things were starting to look gloomy, and soon a muted hiss of drizzle started up. For a while the rain intensified, up to a muffled sleeting diagonal rattle that I was caught in thanks to my poor timing. By 3 PM the murky light already had the feel of late evening, a damp chill deeper than the fairly constant 7°c would suggest.
Feeling gradually fresher after a slow, bleary start. My fragile sleep had been further broken by cries in the night, a persistent nearby refrain of long, mournful fluting huuuuuu and answering huuu-hu-hu-huuu, possibly a pair of tawny owls. Once I fully awoke I brightened bit by bit, even managing some stretches with my girlfriend when she came over after dinner for a sleepover.
May we find a renewed sense of capability and and agency in our lives today!
