Goodnight friends! Not nearly so warm still as those few days of false summer, but not nearly as damp, cold and grimily dim as yesterday either. Sharp breezes and crisp blue shadows, wild rich growing scents moving quickly by on the wind.
With their slender turret flower buds just on the verge of opening I decided this was just about the perfect day to start harvesting wild garlic. It’s a wonderful activity for a fine, cool day, active and careful but low pressure – I aim to never pluck more than one or two leaves or buds from a plant, searching for good candidates without marks or fungal splotches. Fingers and eyes pick up particular patterns of sensing and moving so quickly, as if I’m just recalling something I always used to do, somewhere nearby.
May we find tranquility and open-heartedness today!
