Admin note: long past time to leave substack!

Hello friends! Perhaps you’ve heard, like I have, of substack’s noxious, fascism enabling so-called ““free speech”” policies and funding of far right bloggers. However, inertia, poor memory and low executive function have kept me from revsiting my diary process and moving on from substack for too long.

I persuaded myself too easily that since my negligible footprint wouldn’t have much impact one way or another, it didn’t really matter what I did. I pretended that my name coming first in the URL made it a kind of private space, a curtain between you and I and substack. Of course that’s always been nonsense. I’m thankful in a way for their latest heinous statements that have really helped stoke up some initiative in me to do the right thing.

My diary will still be around, it just won’t be here. While the format isn’t the same, and I can’t make wordpress serve captions easily when posting from my phone as I mostly do, you can read my entries every day here: https://jallandale.co.uk/category/daily-thoughts/ or subscribe to them as an RSS feed: https://jallandale.co.uk/category/daily-thoughts/feed

I also plan to move my diary back to the fediverse, where some of you may remember it originated. These days you can find me there at: https://h-i.social/@paralithode

I’m so grateful to those of you who’ve subscribed to my diary, and I hope it isn’t too much trouble to ask you to cancel your payments to substack. If you’d like to continue to support me somehow, maybe the easiest way currently is via my ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/jallandale

We may part ways here, and if so I’d like to wish you all the best. I envision what I’m doing as not too dissimilar from casting leaves into a stream, inconsequential records of moments that quietly drift away and may catch the eye of someone on their own travels at a moment they may be helpful. It’s nice to think of the whole little enterprise gently flowing in and out of people’s lives in the same way. I hope it will give you some satisfaction to know that, for now at least, those leaves will keep floating day by day while you move on.

May we work to live in better accordance with our truth and values today!
