Good evening friends! Warming up again still, climbing slowly to 28°c. Clouds scattered into feathery streaks by a light breeze at first, scented with honey and dry straw, but warmer as the wind settled and dense, squat towers of cumulus began to gather. Flickering swirls of butterflies joust and spiral around brilliant yellow platforms of ragwort flowers, lolling heads of oatgrass jewelled by glittering metallic blue flies. Despite being curled and crinkled in the last heatwave, the globular heads of pink and blue hydrangeas are starting to fill out.
Slept poorly, but managed to get up and out of a short walk before lunch, and sweated through my stretches on the grass. Felt good to release some of the stiffness that came from tamping down on my physical activity, spending my stamina on writing and preparing for the TTRPG session. Rest of the day mainly just recovering after the investment of energy, trying to stave off any potential crash.
May we find space for calm stillness and quiet reflection in our lives today!
