Goodnight friends! Overnight rain, early, passing fog, and a sodden chill feeling to the air. Curtains of yellow leaves against a colourless, featureless wet paper sky. Glossy-wet leaves cling to my shoes with a slushy, slippery feeling. Yew berries glow like embers among dark needley foliage.

Slept badly, awoken by pain a few times, so I took things slow to start and was pretty bleary until early afternoon. As I woke up I did a bit of careful stretching and mobility work, aiming to keep my joints from feeling too seized up and painful – and just getting to a slightly happier, more connected state of mind about existing in my body. I think I did okay at keeping a steady, balanced pace at judo, challenging myself a little but taking a lot of time out as fatigue weighed on me.

May we find ways to show and to ask openly for kindness today!
