Goodnight friends! An almost paradisical autumn day, 17°c and dry, bright amber-tinted light suffused with a gentle warmth, the slight bite of a cold breeze lurking sharp in the shadows. Dark oily rainbow sheen of green and blue is intense on the flanks of magpies, white epaulettes strobing into flight whenever a marauding squirrel comes to close. Eddies from passing cars make leaves crash and rattle far louder than their weight, like trayfuls of rolling dice.
Today has mostly been about sorting and packing and preparing for our weekend away, while still trying to keep everything low energy and restful. Still in the adjustment period where the cold is really getting to me overnight, but didn’t sleep quite so badly, and being able to pace the day out pretty slowly helped me shake off the worst of the dizziness and aches.
May we recognise our capabilities and the challenges we’ve been able to overcome to make it to today!
