Goodnight friends! Warm throughout and an eerily still 20°c. Pale flat light beneath dense colourless skies to start, and a long few hours of patchy silent rain. The sky gradually broke open a little in the afternoon, allowing slender shafts of light to filter down, though furrowed blue-grey clouds still dominated the horizon. The tiny wild apples are bright scarlet and beginning to fall, tiny vivd baubles in the grass, a sour-sweet jammy mush where they roll underfoot.

Energy sapped away by bad sleep and damp weather, fstigue hit pretty heavily. Fortunately I had a nice low-key hangout with a friend scheduled and occupied my woozy, pummeled brain making fun of a bad movie.

May we find joy in curiosity and exploration today!

Image ID: Photo of a broody sepia and lilac evening sky with silhouetted treetops along the horizon, a streak of brassy sunset light blazing on the topmost boughs.

Photo of an oak leaf, its curled underside densely covered in a mixture of common and silk-button spangle galls, both small, pale brown circular growths, the common galls flat and minutely speckled with a slightly humped centre, while the silk-button galls are raised and more woody with a circular divot in the middle like suction cups.
