Goodnight friends! Dense, spongy feeling to the hot air, a patchy overcast start. A brief respite came with afternoon showers, hard and heavy enough to puddle on cracked tarmac and darken concrete. As the sky cleared though, the sun had simmered the rain away within a few hours leaving only a lingering, dream-like sour scent of rich damp earth that was nowhere to be seen or felt. Stalky periscopes of white stonecrop flowers beginning to bloom, birds seeming hushed by the heat.
Slept somewhat poorly in the heat, and woke up feeling a little strained from walking and stretching. Took a bit more care and eased off again today, not wanting to disrupt the recovery that started to feel like it was going really well.
May we revisit and examine old assumptions and ideas today!

Photo cropped in on a spike of buddleja, tightly packed little overlapping purple quatrefoil flowers with orange centres, altogether giving the impression of one solid mass of colour.
Photo of a long golden streak of summer evening light falling across a stretch of churchyard bounded by a dark cypress hedge, gravestones half swallowed by droop-headed wild grasses, trees beyond caught in a dreamy blueish haze of humidity.
