Goodnight friends! Light was flat and even through the early part of the day, bloodless and smooth and without a hint of shadow. Late afternoon saw clouds torn gradually into scraps, then grey streaming ribbons. Long white guywire skeins of cobweb strung among and between bushes and trees suggest an early presentiment of frost. The temeprature hasn’t changed much, but fitful clamminess and a lead-skittering breeze mad either feel much chillier.
Despite still not being able to rest I woke early, took an early walk and then kept myself in a gentle halfway holding pattern, energy somewhat sapped by the lower pressure. Everything slightly desultory as I did small tasks and made decisions, needful things but the kinds of activity that don’t make a dramatic impression.
May we grant each other, and ourselves, grace and compassion today!
Image ID: Photo of the sun glimpsed through a sliver of ragged pale blue among softly mottled lavender grey clouds, sharp-edged as the moon and without glare, like the tiny white pupil of a distant eye.
Photo of the same mushroom I photographed yesterday, now a confirmed macrolepiota as its cap has spread out into a classic wide umbrella shape, the brown cracked plates on its creamy surface stretched further apart from each other.
