Goodnight friends! Morning was all glass, azure, thin sheets of sparkling ice, cutting light. I didn’t see much of it, lying around malaised and exhausted by exertion and the cold. By the time I managed to get up there were already thick sooty bands of cloud constricting the horizon. They only thickened and merged as the day went on, driven by a cold wet wind that gutted occasional speckling showers and bent the backs of the poplars.
Joints stiff and muscles feeling especially lax and weak, I drifted as gently as I could through the day, not doing much at all except taking a brief, unsteady walk and cooking with my girlfriend in the evening.
May we find peace in cycles of growth, harvest and fallow rest expressing themselves in our worlds and our lives today!
