Goodnight friends! Similarly flat and grey, quietly smothering fog in the morning and evening but otherwise a very still, cold day to usher in December. Without enough light to kindle their leaves the beeches seem a tired and bedraggled brown, no longer a kindling burst of rusty orange-red.
Woke up several times overnight, coughing and shivering and feeling as if summer sun was blazing down on my face in the ink-darkness. Just like my last minor bug not long ago it seems like I needed the fever to reach an expressive crescendo before it let me me go, because it feels like I’m on the way up now, temperature more stable and able to walk more confidently. I was a little tempted to take a walk, but decided to keep it slow and steady until I’m really in the clear.
May we find a sense of stability and nurturing security in our lives today!
