Goodnight friends! Sky baked and broiled to a clean azure, only a tiny crisp half-moon left marooned in the blue. Streams swollen a few days ago are now fingernail-deep rivulets creased by the pebbles they run over, and caramel streaks of sunlight paint the water of the reservoir. Banks of vegetation, menacing nettles and leaning dry cymbal umbrels of hogweed tower up and up so that walking on some narrow tracks starts to feel like navigating a claustrophobic, stinging hedge maze.

More admin and checks to clear, more nerves and hesitations and complications. Both my parents unfortunately caught COVID-19 recently, and are starting to feel symptoms today, so another extra hum of worry. A little hazy and extra fatigued, as heightened anxieties often make me.

May we find a broader and more tranquil, compassionate perspective on our lives today!
