Goodnight friends! Brilliant and warm from the start today, canopies beginning to stain the light beneath the trees with a hazy, shifting green. The faint purring rattle of woodpeckers beginning to work in the woods, the whoop and snap of collared doves surging effortfully into the air. Drifts of bluebells sparkle and fade in the twinkling sweep of narrow, caressing sunbeams.
A little exercise to start, after my joints calmed down, and finally enough stamina keeping a now-annual appointment I make with myself every spring to gather at least one good bushel of wild garlic. I follow a few minor rules I set, perhaps for no particular reason – to never take more than two leaves or one bud from one plant, to only take from the uppermost layer of foliage. It makes for a much slower, but far more meditative and careful process. Hours later the tart, savoury juices still linger on my hands.
May we find clearer, more truthful understanding and expression of our thoughts and feelings today!
