Goodnight friends! An almost comically gloomy morning, woken by rain rapping on windows from a thick, bruise-dark sky. Several times over the day brisk frigid winds part cleared the sky, but never enough to entirely stop the rain sweeping by in uncertain waves. Grass juts up bedraggled from shallow marshy slicks of standing water on the heavy clay soil. Wet leaves are gorgeous, gleaming huge engraved-brass American red oak and sycamore maple like broken yellow platters, but treacherous underfoot, slithering and slushy.
Felt my body stiffen in pain and release a few times in response to the shifting weather, and bouts of activity and exhaustion naturally flowed with that same rhythm. A little tidying and reorganising, in brief surges of action I can feel with a slight shock my slightly better-developed muscles come into play.
May we find moments of peaceful stillness for flights of fantasy and contemplating nothing today!
