Goodnight friends! A less consistent and more beautiful day, though a worse one for my health. More humid than yesterday – an ongoing drifting skirmish of glowering blue-black and violet cumulus ramparts and heady, empty vaults of azure sky. Radiant sunlit trees stand against black cliffs of cloud. Rain passes over in slow scything bands, each time summoning up the gritty chemical scent of hot wet concrete. Leaf litter grows thicker and stickier. I disturbed a devil’s coach horse, a long lithe satiny black beetle that wildly writhes and bucks and flicks its segmented fork-tailed abdomen on discovery, as if it really is trying to wriggle free of some demonic harness.
Very tired and sore, and not able to sleep well. Everything is heavy going and I need long breaks between each stuttering effort. I haven’t fukly losr my desire to draw, though my ability has taken a dip and I canmt go on for very long. Taking painkillers to soften things a little.
May we find and build upon sustaining patterns and routines that help shape our lives for the better today!
