Goodnight friends! Forecasts suggest this extraordinary echo of summer will be brief, Wednesday bearing a dark cartoon raincloud icon. Today though was an sizzling blue-white islet adrift from the far continent of July, so I leapt at what seems like the last chance for a while and took a day trip out to winterbourne house and garden, an Edwardian arts-and-crafts villa with lush and intricate grounds. Little walkways weave through cool, swampy glades of giant rhubarb and ferns, long pergolas woven over with grapevines, moments of stark stately home geometry from lime walks and hedges, profusions of rainbow flowerbeds and glasshouses.

Felt almost a little dazed by the continuing smoulder of heat, not so much into quiescence as a wild impulsive recklessness, my emotions and desires changing moment to moment with chaotic rubber ball rapidity. Hard to manage myself, but glad at least of the impulse to get out of my comfort zone and be bold.

May we relax our grip on things we can’t control and find a gentle sense of acceptance and teanquility today!
