Goodnight friends! Home again, resting easier and slowly absorbing the vague sense of relief from being fully vaccinated. A telling red mark on the thumb side of my second finger – I hadn’t noticed how thoroughly I’d lost the once-thick drawing callus there, excited by the idea that I might have the stamina now to make it come back.

Largely gloomy and still, hour by hour air growing heavier, stickier. A haze of stalks and dust in the air as brass walls of wheat are carved away row by row, combine harvesters dark and droning. Meadows full of grasshoppers in various guises, angular and armoured to pale mint green nymphs, softly churring and making soft, dry snapping sounds as they kick off to new vantages, shaking the grass stems as soon as I come near.

May we uncover fresh truths and insights about ourselves and the world today, and apply them to inform our actions!
