Goodnight friends! Another day that feels a little stuffier and more overcast, though that’s still very relative – brushing against 30°c most of the day, flowers drooping and giving off a thick, syrupy aroma. Shallow water chuckles throatily across beds of coppery pebbles, throwing up strobing silver pulses swirling across ferns and overhanging alders. The woodlands are another world of thick, smoky jade light. For now the forecast is suggesting the end of this heatwave is on the horizon, with a depression and significant rainfall rolling through around Friday.

Plucked handfuls of lady’s bedstraw and meadowsweet for the windowsill to bring home some of that honeyed floral richness – and a huge butterbur leaf too, but sadly its stiff white rays wilted and collapsed like a windtorn umbrella in less than a half hour. Took a rest day, letting my equilibrium return after fending off a headache all through yesterday.

May we find camraderie and generous, loving mutual appreciation today!
