Goodnight friends! Cooler out, sky heavier and more uniform, a seamless smooth mass of pale wet grey pressing down. Several quiet spells of rain, present in a clammy clinging quality to the air and dully gleaming pinprick pearls of water even between showers. Thick festoons of sawtoothed bugleweed mound up the banks of woodland streams, the brief long-tongued brilliance of flag irises already fading. The dark beneath the trees is thick and velvety, almost foggy, drinking scattered chatters of birdsong into itself.
Still sore and lethargic, though by now at least I feel largely recovered from Thursday’s workout. My attempts to find more space in my schedule for drawing and writing have been tenporarily derailed – feeling dulled, staggered and discomposed, bleary due to pain levels disturbing my sleep.
May we be guided by gentleness and compassion today!
