Good evening friends! A reprieve from wet weather for the first part of the day, a sky largely grey but rippling and tattered. Afternoon darkened to a thick dusk lavender grey and a sustained stinging barrage of rain started up. Branches shuddered and squealed, rags of willow catkins strewn through the grass. Undeterred, martins still skimmed and whirled over the reservoir, while a goosander, hook-billed and predatory, cruised the water. Ducklings, cygnets and goslings all gathered into dense fuzzy flotillas against their parents’ flanks.

More settled and sensible in my feelings as the vaccine appointment draws closer and I can make meaningful plans. Despite some bleariness from pain and a general malaise it was reassuring to set out schedules and put the immediate future in some kind of order.

May we find fresh delight in everyday events and sensations today!
