Goodnight friends! Colder today with grey and temperamental skies again, intermittent mutter and hiss of rain. Unlike yesterday waiting didn’t lead to an afternoon reprieve, a clammy off-white mat of clouds persisted until it descended by degrees into the dull grey-blue of evening, singed by amber electric light. Life and colour is bursting up at toe level, though. Purple seems to be the colour of the moment, with grape hyacinths, sweet violets and early dog-violets all peeking up among lawns and under fences. Spotted my first flowering red dead-nettle of the year, always a favourite for me as one of the first of the scrappy kerbside flowers I noticed and learned to ID.
Again damp slowed my movement and thinking, muddled by aching in my joints. I turned my sluggish, trapped feeling into something at least a little meaningful, doing the slow, low energy, low commitment work of reorganising kitchen cupboards bit by bit.
May we find a sense of balance and nurturing structure in our lives today!
